What Is Bilona Ghee?
Bilona Ghee is made using the ancient, two-step hand-churning process from A2 milk of desi cows like the Gir, Sahiwal, or Hallikar. This method retains all the nutrients, enzymes, and divine essence that make ghee medicinal.
The process:
- A2 Cow Milk is boiled and set into curd (yogurt) overnight.
- The curd is churned using a wooden bilona (hand-whisk) to extract makhan (white butter).
- The butter is then slow-cooked on a low flame in an earthen or metal pot to produce pure, aromatic Bilona Ghee.
The Science Behind the Sacred
-
Preserves Butyric Acid & CLA
Bilona Ghee is rich in butyric acid, which strengthens gut health, reduces inflammation, and promotes digestion. It also contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) — a fat that helps reduce body fat and build immunity.
-
Loaded with Vitamins
It’s a natural source of Vitamin A, D, E, and K — all fat-soluble vitamins essential for brain, bone, and skin health.
-
Free of Lactose & Casein
The traditional preparation method ensures Bilona Ghee is suitable for lactose-intolerant individuals — as most of the milk solids are removed.
-
Enhances Nutrient Absorption
According to Ayurveda, ghee acts as a "Yogavahi" — a carrier that drives nutrients deep into the tissues and enhances the potency of herbs.
-
Cooling for the Body, Fuel for the Brain
Unlike processed oils, Bilona Ghee cools the body internally, balances Pitta dosha, and nourishes Ojas (vital energy) — making it an excellent brain and immunity booster.
Spiritual Significance
In Vedic rituals, Bilona Ghee is used in Yagnas (fire rituals) for its sattvic, purifying energy. Its smoke is believed to cleanse the atmosphere and attract positive vibrations. It’s not just food — it’s prasad (divine offering).
